People’s Yoga Detroit Volunteer Hours at Spirit Farm!
This summer & fall we’re excited and honored to offer a new program through People’s Yoga Detroit. In addition to the optional monetary donation students can make after class, we’re inviting you to donate time & energy to Spirit Farm, the beautiful farm right at Spirit of Hope church.
Volunteer hours are just before class, Tuesdays & Thursdays, rain or shine, from 4 – 6. If you can’t make the whole two hours, no problem; just arrive when you can and leave when you must. You’ll find the garden on the side of the church, to the right from the large main doors where we usually enter for yoga. Head right into the garden & find Leeann (that’s me!). We have a wide range of tasks & opportunities for volunteers, suitable for any skill level. So far we’ve been managing unruly tomato plants, feeding the always-entertaining chickens, ducks, & turkeys, clearing paths, harvesting loads of delicious summer produce, planting winter crops, and clearing out debris to improve the garden’s child-friendliness. But the possibilities are boundless! If you feel like committing to a large-scale project and seeing it through from design to implementation, we’ve got plenty of new structures to create. If you feel like [meditatively?] pulling weeds, we always need that. If you would rather sit somewhere peaceful and make a few phone calls on our behalf, that’d be great too. We appreciate it all!
Just a bit of yesterday’s harvest: baby eggplant, cherry tomatoes, peppers, Thai basil flowers.
Spirit Farm is really an oasis of calm, healing, community, and beauty, and we hope you’ll come experience it for yourself soon! If you’re on Facebook, please like Spirit Farm’s page to stay up-to-date, and hopefully we’ll see you there soon.
